After Central; Once I graduated from Central, I got a job at Rolscreen Co. (which is now named Pella Corporation) as a time study engineer. Then I moved into production supervision. In 1978, I moved into sales and marketing where I spent the rest of my career there. After 41 years, I retired in August of 2015. It was a great company to work for. With my travels for the company, I made it to every state in the U.S. (except for Alaska—which is now on my bucket list).
Family/Children; From my 10-year marriage, I have 3 fantastic children! Adam, Andrea, and Amy. Adam and his wife Nikki, have my 3 grandchildren and live close by, in Grinnell. Andrea and her husband Nav, live in Queens, NY, and Amy lives in Des Moines. My focus is to spend as much time with my family as I can. Of course, I spoil them with Jaarsma bakery goods!
What fills my Hours; I enjoy going to coffee with my friends at Smokey Row in the morning (where Ideal Pharmacy used to be—southeast corner of the square) and then go swimming at the indoor pool. I try to make as many sporting events my grandkids have. In the summertime, I will drive out to upstate New York to see my sisters and hang out with them. I will also head down to see my daughter and son-in-law in the city.
Phi Delta Tau Memories; Making so many great friends from the fraternity! Hanging out at the Grill and Hunters! Having Grinders from Dubits! Going to Florida on spring break with the frat! A super lot of great memories with the frat!
I am Looking forward to having everyone to my house and “Grill Bar” set-up in my two-car garage on Friday Night June 7th at 4 PM That’s 1208 Washington Street in Pella we will chat about parking and directions at the Maytag Center Luncheon that same day.
