What fills my Hours; Still working…..enjoy working too much… doing product development for various companies and shopping the International Fabric and Leather markets. After being a Medic in the Air Force (last half of the 60’s ..I went to work as a sales rep mostly for various furniture companies. Started a Import company in the mid 80’s These last 15 years I have been consulting and doing product development in the Furniture Industry. With the Argentine gov’t (3 years…and the balance in China) Other than work, Reading, Art Galleries & Museums, Travel, Cooking & Baking. Going to the Beach on Fire Island for long weekends from early spring to late October. (and fishing even when they are NOT biting).. Good Wine…is a must. Participating and helping in the USA Special Hockey League (my son plays in this league)
Family/Children; Ruth and I have been married for 48 years and have 2 Children…. Max and Samantha (Sammy) Our oldest is Max ( he is 35 ) is a special needs adult…is now living on his own with a roommate who is also special needs. He is part of a program that along with 8 other families and us started a program 11 years ago called. ” The Point Program ”-which is located in White Plains New York. The programs structure and format has been studied by other programs around the country and internationally. Max has worked at White Plains Hospital for the last 10 years. Our daughter Sammy currently works and lives with her husband Blaise in Manhattan. No grandchildren as of yet-Ruth and I started very late- Sammy along with her mother has all the brains in the family-thank goodness. Both are successful over achievers.
Recent Awards; NO Awards….But my wife and I have been rewarded in our participation of creating a successful Program for the development of Special needs adults that learn to live independently and be part of and contribute to…the community they live in. In addition, we were also lucky to be instrumental in starting one of the first Hockey leagues and teams in the U.S. for special needs children when our son was 9-years old-he is still playing at the age of 35. The New York Raptors…still running strong
Phi Delta Tau Memories: Being with and feeling so connected to the other founding members. So lucky to have connected to these other founding members both socially and intellectually. John Daane suggesting that the name should be “ FALSTAFF “-after the Shakespearean character who loved to drink-and we loved our beer . Not sure about this memory but-I recall the decision for 3 or 4 of the founding members to run for student council. IF, I remember correctly 3 of us won- I think I was what they then called Social Chairman-and we brought the first live Jazz band / orchestra to the campus… Stan Kenton. Fab concert. And of course, …sharing a Hamms beer with the other founding brothers.
